The Elk County Treasurer is elected to a four-year term. The Treasurer serves as the custodian of county funds.  The Treasurer's Office receives and accounts for all money due or accruing to the county and receives all taxes collected by the County's 12 Tax Collectors.  

The Treasurer is the Tax Collector for the Hotel Room Rental Tax.

By statue the Treasurer serves as an Agent for the Commonwealth. As an agent, the County Treasurer is responsible for issuing hunting, fishing, dog license and temporary boat registrations. Through the Department of Revenue the small games of chance and bingo licenses are issued by the Treasurer's Office. Sporting gun permits are issued by the Treasurer's Office and are sent to the Pennsylvania State Police.
