The Penn State Cooperative Extension Office for Elk County has relocated from the Courthouse basement to Room 210 in the Annex Building (300 Center Street, Ridgway PA 15853).

Please feel free to check out their website for exciting news on activities throughout Elk County including 4-H, the Master Gardener Program, and other practical agriculture education.

Other than the physical address, all contact information (P.O. Box, Phone #, Fax #, etc) is unchanged.

Please take note as of January 1, 2017 the fees for filing in the Register of Wills and Orphans’ Court has increased. The last increase to our fees was January 1, 1998. The new fee schedule can be found by clicking on the Register of Wills or the Orphans’ Court headings.

Medicine Collection Box Added To Sheriff's Office

In September, the District Attorney held a press conference to announce the addition of MedReturn Drug Collection boxes to the Elk County Sheriff's Department, the St. Marys City Police Department, the Ridgway Borough Police Department, and the Johnsonburg Borough Police Department.  Additional information can be found here.

  • A dog license is required for all dogs 3 months of age and older.                                           
  • Dogs must be licensed by January 1 of each year.                                                
  • Maximum fine for an unlicensed dog is $500.00.
For your convenience, Elk County has partnered with to provide a new online dog license purchasing tool - PaDogLicense.
