Census 2020 - Address Canvassing Under Way

April 1, 2020 is National Census Day.  In preparation for the Census, address canvassing is currently underway in Elk County.  The Census Bureau needs the address and physical location of each living quarter in the United States and Puerto Rico to conduct and tabulate the census. An accurate list ensures that residents will be invited to participate in the census and that the census counts residents in the correct location.  You may encounter individuals in your neighborhoods verifying addresses.  These individuals will have an ID badge from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census showing their photograph, their name, and an expiration date.  Attached here is some additional information regarding the Address Canvassing effort currently underway.  





The 2020 Census will be the first with an Online response option for the convenience of our residents.  Postcards will be sent in the spring to each household with instructions on how to be counted in the Census.  When you participate in the Census 2020, all of your answers are Confidential.
