The Elk County Tax Claim Bureau is pleased to offer The Velocity Payment System which is a secure, easy to navigate system that allows the tax payer to log on and pay their real estate taxes by check or credit card from home.


ACT 13 Grant Applications Now Being Accepted

The Elk County Commissioners have established a grant program that will redistribute a portion of their allocation of the Act 13 Marcellus Shale Impact Fee for local projects.  Act 13 Impact Fees are disbursed by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) directly to local governments to mitigate the impacts of unconventional gas well drilling and may be used for a variety of projects.

Eligible applicants include municipal governing bodies, 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations or municipal authorities.  

Grant requests must be a minimum of $1,000 up to a maximum amount of $10,000.  Two rounds of grants are done each year with the maximum amount awarded during any cycle of $50,000.

Application deadlines are MARCH 1st   and   SEPTEMBER 1st of each year.

2018 Elk County Proposed Budget

On December 7, 2017 the Board of Commissioners for Elk County placed the proposed 2018 budget on display for public viewing and comment.  The budget is physically on display in the commissioners office and also available on the county website by following this link.

Elk County Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Now Available for Review

The Elk County Planning Department in cooperation with the Elk County Emergency Management Agency has prepared an update to the Elk County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

County officials began developing the county’s first Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) in 2006. The Plan was approved by FEMA and adopted in 2011. However, local Mitigation Plans must be updated at least once every five years in order to continue to be eligible for FEMA hazard mitigation project grant funding. In order to meet FEMA’s requirement, the Updated HMP was prepared.
